Vietnamese cuisine, culture introduced at South Africa Diplomatic Fun Fair 2022

Accordingly, the Vietnamese Embassy brought to the event ‘ao dai’ (Vietnamese traditional gown) and conical hats, as well as photos featuring the beauty of Vietnamese land and people, and typical handicraft products.

Visitors to the Vietnamese stall were offered a chance to enjoy and learn how to cook spring rolls and fried spring rolls, and drink Vietnamese coffee.

First held in 2006, the annual fair brings together foreign diplomatic missions in South Africa. After a 2-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2022 fair was attended by 60 diplomatic missions and international organisations, including UN agencies.

In an exciting match, Do Le Van Chi (14) and Do Le Van Linh (13), siblings from Vietnam’s Central Highlands, clinched the top spot in the U.S. Open Table Tennis Championships. They beat the U.S. duo, Emily Quan (17) and Abigail Yu (12), with a close score of 3-2. The talented Vietnamese pair are no strangers to success, having previously won championships in the women’s doubles and team events at the 2023 National Youth Tournament in their home country. Staff at Vietnam’s exhibition booth were kept busy. From November 25-27, the Doha Convention and Exhibition Center in Qatar played host to the third Qatar International Tourism Fair, an event that attracted over 300 exhibitors from more than 60 countries.
